Based on a story in The Weekly World News, BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL is a musical comedy/horror show about a half boy/half bat creature who is discovered in a cave near Hope Falls, West Virginia. For lack of a better solution, the local sheriff brings Bat Boy to the home of the town veterinarian, Dr. Parker, where he is eventually accepted as a member of the family and taught to act like a “normal” boy by the veterinarian’s wife, Meredith, and teenage daughter, Shelley. Bat Boy is happy with his new life, but when he naively tries to fit in with the narrow-minded people of Hope Falls, they turn on him, prodded by the machinations of Dr. Parker, who secretly despises Bat Boy. Shelley and Bat Boy, who have fallen in love, run away together from the ignorant townsfolk and have a blissful coupling in the woods, but their happiness is shattered when Meredith arrives and reveals a secret. Soon the entire town arrives and hears the shocking story of Bat Boy’s unholy origin.

**Please note: The show contains adult themes and situations that may not be suitable for young children.

Land Acknowledgements

The Community Theater Company of Burlington (Burlington Players) resides on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Massachusett people, and unceded, unsurrendered Pawtucket territory of the Pennacook.    We honor these communities and the elders of these nations—past, present, and future—whose practices and spiritualities are tied to the land. A Note to Our Community

The Burlington Players stand by the black and brown communities in Massachusetts, throughout the country, and around the world. As artists, we have a platform and a voice that can speak out against injustice. As an arts organization, we as a board are meeting (virtually) to discuss what we can do as an organization and changes we need to make to our structure as a community theater. We pledge to learn, listen, and take actions that are within our means and will share that with our community in the coming weeks. We pledge to do our part and acknowledge our responsibility within the arts and in our hearts. Black Lives Matter. Our organization will not be silent to injustices.
