About the Scholarship

The Burlington Players Memorial Scholarship awards a $2,000 scholarship each year in memory of a special member of our Burlington theater community who has passed away.

Our 2024 Memorial Scholarship will remember and honor our friend Mike Howard, who died in July 2023.

Eligible seniors' primary residence is in Burlington and are continuing their education after high school at an accredited college or university by majoring in theater, acting, directing, technical theater, or other theater related major.

This scholarship was originally instituted in memory of our friend Sandy Pirnie, who worked tirelessly with Winnmere Family Theater and Children’s Theater Workshop. We still love and miss her every day.

Special Events

Annual Tree Lighting at the Common

For over 20 years, Winnmere Family Theater volunteers act as elves for this beloved event in front of Town Hall, accompanying Frosty and Santa, and distributing candy canes to excited children.

Celebrate Burlington

The Players paint faces each year at Burlington’s Annual Celebrate Burlington on the Town Common.

And more

To help in the fight against school violence, Winnmere Family Theater performed Bang Bang You're Dead in partnership with the Community Life Center, with a counselor-led discussion following performances.

Alky, a play about teen alcoholism, was adapted for video and shown numerous times on Burlington Cable Access Television (BCAT).
