Join us for a free workshop series this August!
Each workshop is FREE, lead by Kira Troilo of Art & Soul Consulting, hosted and sponsored by Burlington Players.
Workshop 1: Active Allyship in the Arts
Saturday, August 9 @ 10:30am - 12:00pm
This interactive session dives into what it really means to be an active ally in creative spaces.
Together, we’ll:
Practice upstander intervention through a theater-specific lens, build your own actionable roadmap for real-time allyship, and explore your affinity gaps and how to challenge bias with intention.
Expect hands-on exercises, honest conversation, and take-home tools to help you lead with courage behind the scenes.
Workshop 2: Brave Creative Spaces
Sunday, August 17 @ 10:30am- 12:00pm
What does it really take to build a rehearsal room (or backstage environment) where people feel safe enough to take risks? This interactive workshop is designed specifically for Burlington Players to explore how brave space culture can elevate your art—and your ensemble.
Together, we’ll:
Define what a brave space is and how to foster one in rehearsal and backstage, learn tools for boundaries, feedback, and resilience
practice compassionate advocacy—how to speak up for yourself with clarity and care.
Expect hands-on exercises, thoughtful discussion, and a personal action plan you can use right away. Take-home tools included for continued learning.
Workshop 3: Beyond Performative Diversity
Saturday, August 23 @ 10:30am- 12:00pm
This candid, action-focused workshop is designed to help Burlington Players move past good intentions and into real, sustainable inclusion practices—onstage and behind the scenes.
Together, we’ll:
Identify where well-meaning efforts fall short—and how to do better, explore how to support actors of color and size beyond the checkbox (think: textured hair, mic placement, tokenism & more).
Engage in hands-on activities that lead to personal, actionable change
Leave with tools, insight, and a plan to build a truly inclusive creative culture.
